One of our family's goals is to go on pilgrimage to Jasna Gora someday, esp. in the month of May "thanne longen folke to goon on pilgrimages," (to quote Chaucer.)
By the way, I just found out recently that Jasna Gora means 'Bright Mountain.'
Being a lover of mountains, esp. my native sunlit uplands of Colorado, I was especially delighted to discover that.
I am reminded of the June 4,1979 sermon of the Polish Pope at Jasna Gora when he began by quoting Adam Mickiewicz's "Pan Tadeusz": "Holy Virgin guarding bright Czestochowa..."
This beloved son of Poland told the assembled crowd that invocation "expressed what then beat and still beats in the hearts of all Poles." (Witness To Hope p.309)
This is the distinguishing charism of the Polish people!!
Thanks for finding this charming video.
