The new leader of South Florida's Catholics, Archbishop Thomas Wenski will lead a growing archdiocese that includes more than 800,000 Catholics, 115 churches and dozens of elementary and high schools, and that is affiliated with two universities - St. Thomas and Barry - and Mercy, a Catholic hospital.From Catholic World News
At his installation Mass on June 1, Miami's Archbishop Thomas Wenski said that Catholics should advance Church social teachings "coherently and unapologetically" in public affairs.
The new archbishop warned that a "radically secular world view wishes to reduce faith toe the realm of the private and the subjective." Catholics must resist that pressure, he said, and put forward arguments "that, while founded on the Christian Scriptures, is also accessible to human reason.”
While admitting that Catholic social teaching can seem "quite complex," Archbishop Wenski said that its fundamental thrust can be simply summarized: "No man is a problem."
