National pro-life groups have banded together to launch a boycott of the sales of Girl Scout cookies over the ties the organization has to the Planned Parenthood abortion business and how it has promoted pro-abortion groups and activists. The pro-life movement has been concerned for a number of years about the ties between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business. Although the Girl Scout organization maintains that it takes “no position” on the issue of abortion, parents, churches, and pro-life activists have long complained of the pro-abortion slant of the Girl Scouts’ resources, role models, and affiliations.LifeNews is a part of the coalition of pro-life organizations that are boycotting sales of the cookies — along with American Life League, the Pro-Life Action League, the Radiance Foundation, blogger Jill Stanek, the National Black Pro-Life Union, the Issues4Life Foundation, and Life Coalition International.Read more at LifeNews.com

"Those who try to make room for sex as mere casual enjoyment pay the penalty: they become shallow. At any rate the talk that reflects and commends this attitude is always shallow. They dishonour their own bodies; holding cheap what is naturally connected with the origination of human life."
"As a direct result of the commitment, action and prayers of pro-family people, at least 256 corporations have stopped funding Planned Parenthood," said Kenneth C. Garvey, LDI's Director of Communications. It is estimated that the boycott has cost Planned Parenthood more than $40 million since the Corporate Funding Project (CFP) began nearly 18 years ago. "This should serve as a testament to those who thought it impossible to change corporate philanthropic behavior."
New boycott targets include AOL, Darden Restaurants (Bahama Breeze, The Capital Grille, LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Season 52), Franchise Services (PIP, Signal Graphics, Sir Speedy), Hilton Worldwide (Conrad Hotels, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inns/Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Hotels, Homewood Suites), Ignite Restaurants (Brickhouse Tavern+Tap, Joe's Crab Shack), ING (financial services), Kohl's (department stores), Mrs. Fields (cookies), Staples (office/school supplies), Toys "R" Us, and Trader Joe's (markets/supermarkets).
Returning to The Boycott List are The Gap (apparel/accessories) and Freddie Mac (U.S. Government-sponsored secondary mortgages).
Corporations continuing as boycott targets from the previously released Boycott List include AlphaGraphics, Wells Fargo (including Wachovia), Nike, Time Warner, Bank of America, Walt Disney, Johnson & Johnson, Lost Arrow (Patagonia, etc.), Chevron, and Nationwide Insurance, among others.
Garvey was critical of pro-life organizations that continue to use PayPal even though it has been a boycott target for several years now. "PayPal is owned by boycott target eBay," Garvey said. "Most pro-life groups are aware that it is a boycott target because it has funded Planned Parenthood, but they have consciously chosen to continue doing business with the company. Doing so is indefensible." Garvey said alternatives to PayPal exist and he will gladly help anyone who has trouble tracking them down. "It is unconscionable that anyone who claims to be pro-life would willingly do business with a company that funds the number one enemy of preborn children," Garvey said.
The new Boycott List includes a "Dishonorable Mention" section, which identifies charitable groups that are associated with Planned Parenthood and/or its agenda. Groups named in this section include Lions Clubs, the American Cancer Society, Easter Seals, Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Camp Fire, Girls Inc., Girl Scouts, Kiwanis Clubs, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Rotary Clubs, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Salvation Army, YWCA, America Gives Back (formerly [American] Idol Gives Back), and YMCA, among others.
"This has not been some sort of 'Jesse Jackson boycott' where we make news for a few days and then go away," said LDI Chairman Thomas C. Strobhar. "Corporate officials are learning that those who value life are among the most dedicated people on earth. We will not go away until corporate involvement with Planned Parenthood comes to an end."

Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), whose attorneys are handling the case, said that although "this case is by no means over, winning this appeal means we have gotten the federal claim over the threshold hurdles and can now get down to the heart of this case: the alleged fraud.”
Victor Gonzalez, a former Chief Financial Officer for Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles (PPLA), had filed his suit on Dec. 19, 2005, shortly after he was fired, allegedly for voicing concerns about PP's illegal accounting practices.
According to Gonzalez, Planned Parenthood had been billing California's Department of Health Services (DHS) at their "usual and customary" rates for oral contraceptives, rather than at the lower "acquisition cost" rates since at least 1997; this was despite the fact that the DHS had repeatedly instructed the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) to seek reimbursement for drugs solely at the acquisition cost.
This means Planned Parenthood may have charged the DHS as much as 12 times the purchase price of some drugs.
An audit report issued by the California Department of Health Services (DHS) found that such overbilling by the Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties (PPH) cost the state over $5.2 million for the audit period.
Actual overbilling by all Planned Parenthood affiliates in California was almost certainly much higher: the audit examined only periods between 2002 and 2004 for only one of nine separately incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates in California, each of which engaged in the practice.
According to some sources, the state may have been defrauded of more than $180 million in all.
Planned Parenthood, however, managed to use allies in the state legislature to push AB2151 into law, which permitted PP clinics to continue their practice legally. Gov. Schwarzenegger signed AB2151 on September 28, 2004.
Because the state's medical-assistance programs are supported by federal funds, however, PP's fraud fell beneath the jurisdiction of the federal False Claims Act (FCA), which forbids government contractors from submitting "false or fraudulent" claims for payment.
Furthermore, beneath the FCA, private individuals may bring suit against organizations that have defrauded the government and recover a fraction of the fraudulently obtained funds as their reward.
Attorneys representing Planned Parenthood had convinced U.S. District Court Judge Howard to dismiss Gonzalez's suit on October 30, 2008 on the grounds that he was not an "original source" as the FCA requires.
The ACLJ, a conservative legal advocacy organization focusing on Constitutional law, entered the field as the case was appealed.
"The question on appeal was whether the former PP employee is a proper whistleblower under the False Claims Act,” said Sekulow. “We contended that the answer is ‘Yes,’ and now a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit has unanimously agreed with us.”
"This is an important victory. But the legal fight is sure to continue," he continued.
Circuit Judges Alfred Goodwin, Mary Schroeder, and Raymond Fischer ordered the case reopened on July 2. The case names as defendants each of the Planned Parenthood affiliates in California, in addition to the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, PP’s political action group that helped push for AB2151.
Planned Parenthood is well known for attempting to maximize profits through unethical means, such as by pushing profitable abortions and promoting their highly controversial "telemed" chemical abortions. According to the pro-life group Operation Rescue, Planned Parenthood routinely overbills insurance companies for such "telemed" abortions.
After viewing the powerful film, Congressman Trent Franks remarked: "We never quite seem to be so eloquent when we decry all the crimes of a past generation, and we are never so staggering blind, as when a genocide occurs in our own time."
"Maafa" is a Swahili word meaning a "great disaster" or a "tragedy," a fitting title for a film that attempts to expose "Black Genocide." Originally, "Maafa" described the period of history where Africans were kidnapped from their villages and taken to another continent to be sold as slaves. The documentary argues that the time of tragedy for the African-American people never really ended, but has actually intensified over the centuries.
Maafa 21 was produced by Mark Crutcher of Life Dynamics and features Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King Jr. It has been hailed as a must-see by black communities, and compared with "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" as it exposes what seems to be another inconvenient and shocking truth.
From the racist and eugenic words and actions of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, to today's abortion and birth control megacenters targeting black communities, the film makes a convincing argument and serves as a warning to the black community.
North Carolina public schools are preparing for the fall implementation of the Healthy Youth Act, which mandates that seventh and eighth graders be instructed in “the effectiveness and safety of all FDA-approved contraceptive methods in preventing pregnancy.” These methods include the male condom, female condom, diaphragm with spermicides, sponge with spermicide, cervical cap with spermicide, spermicide alone, the birth control pill, the birth control patch, the vaginal contraceptive ring, a contraceptive shot/injection, the morning-after pill, the IUD, the implantable rod, and sterilization. Some of these contraceptive methods are also abortifacient.
The 2009 law, opposed by the state’s bishops, was backed by Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice NC (the state branch of the former National Abortion Rights Action League), and the state teachers’ union (the North Carolina Association of Educators). Parents are permitted to exempt their children from the instruction.
The passage and implementation of the Healthy Youth Act follows the 2008 election of North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue, Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, and Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson, all of whom received the endorsement of NARAL (formerly the National Abortion Rights Action League) because of their support for legalized abortion.
The Healthy Youth Act is not the only issue that has raised questions about the direction of public education in North Carolina. In Februrary 2010, the state’s Department of Public Instruction published a revised civics curriculum that compared pro-life laws to oppressive pro-segregation legislation; that proposal was withdrawn following opposition by the state’s bishops. The state’s revised US history curriculum would have eliminated the study of pre-1877 American history during the high school years; that curricular change was also abandoned after intense grass-roots opposition. In addition, State Superintendent June Atkinson announced earlier this year that all statewide mathematics tests would incorporate a framework developed by a firm whose president, Malbert Smith, donated $2,000 to her election campaign.

A young woman in Indianapolis, Indiana - we'll call her Erin - woke up, saw her kids off to school, dropped her preschoolers at a friend's house, and noticed that she was late for an appointment ... at Planned Parenthood ... for an abortion.
So Erin picked up her phone and called to see if she could still come in. She thought she was calling Planned Parenthood. In her haste, she dialled a wrong number.
Instead of Planned Parenthood, she got Joseph, who was answering the cell phone that's being used by ...
... get ready for this ...
... 40 Days for Life in Indianapolis!
Joseph took a deep breath and tried to be as calm as possible. He took Erin's name and number and simply said that a counselor would call her back.
So Elizabeth, the counselor, called Erin. Elizabeth begged her not to hang up, and then explained that she had not reached Planned Parenthood. Asked if she was a Christian, Erin said "yes." So Elizabeth told her God's grace was at work in this "wrong number" situation.
So what had led Erin to the abortion center? Simply put - desperation.
She has four children, their father is in jail, she had lost her job, her electricity is about to be shut off, and she doesn't have enough money to pay the rent.
Later, Erin arrived at Planned Parenthood with her aunt. The aunt told counselors she opposed the abortion, but Erin's mother and sister insist it's the best answer. They say Erin just can't handle another child.
In the meantime, Elizabeth had spread the word about Erin's situation. A volunteer offered to pay her electric bill. Ten others pooled their cash to pay her rent.
Eileen in Indianapolis says a local group is now working with Erin to help her find a job. "She has a lot of potential," Eileen said, "but needs support since her mother and sister are still encouraging her to abort the baby."
Erin has reacted with both joy and disbelief that strangers were helping her. She has called Planned Parenthood to cancel her appointment and request a refund.
Please keep Erin and her family - and all those helping her - in your prayers.
So, you see? God does work in mysterious ways. There are no coincidences ... and in this case, no wrong numbers!
The new video, the seventh in a series from Live Action documenting similar behavior in 5 other states, comes amid recent controversy about Planned Parenthood's compliance with state laws regarding minors and abortion.
After hearing that the girl is 14 and her boyfriend is "much older," the counselor in the video says that whether or not the situation will be reported by clinic workers "depends on the person you're disclosing that information to." When the girl says that her boyfriend is 31, the counselor tells her, "You don't have to say anything" about the statutory rape and instructs her, "Just give them the information that's needed." The counselor also confirms that the 31-year-old "boyfriend" will be paying for the abortion.
In Wisconsin, sex between an adult and a minor under age 16 is a felony, and health care professionals are required to report such cases to law enforcement immediately. The law specifically includes abortion providers in this requirement.
Live Action, the youth-led pro-life nonprofit that produced the video, has previously released undercover footage in its "Mona Lisa Project" showing sexual abuse cover-up at Planned Parenthood clinics in California, Indiana, Arizona, Tennessee, and Alabama.
The Alabama Department of Health put a Birmingham Planned Parenthood on probation two weeks ago after finding 9 legal violations during an investigation prompted by a Live Action video.
Twenty-one-year-old UCLA student Lila Rose, Live Action's president, says her organization's videos reveal a common trend of unethical counseling practices and disregard for the law at Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the U.S.
"In case after case, Planned Parenthood exempts itself from its legal and professional obligations," said Rose. "At a time when the Obama administration, through its new health care plan, is offering potentially billions of dollars to the abortion industry, state and federal lawmakers need to take notice of Planned Parenthood's lawlessness and make certain they receive no more taxpayer subsidies."
Live Action is also responsible for a recent video exposè of biased counseling and medical misinformation at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. Wisconsin law requires that women be provided accurate medical information before undergoing an abortion.
"The evidence is now available for all to see that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin ignores state laws that have been in place for years," said the Live Action president.
"Wisconsin law enforcement needs to follow the lead of other jurisdictions, investigate this corrupt organization, and enforce the laws that protect vulnerable women and their pre-born children."
"When you dig around and look at [their] website and look at the medical services that they are providing, the priorities that they give are to -- quote -- "low-cost, quality sexual and reproductive healthcare," he states.
The pro-life journalist says while Planned Parenthood does not further define on its website and in its literature what that entails, "we know from experience [that it] includes contraceptives, birth control and condoms -- and often, but not always, abortion."
According to Tuns, there has been a call from pro-abortion sources -- mostly in Florida -- to increase abortion facilities at this time of need. But what Haitian women really need, he explains, is food, water, and shelter, as well as prenatal care, quality delivery services, and post-natal care. He cautions people about the groups they give money to for aid and relief.
"Groups such as UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, and the International Committee of the Red Cross are all clearly involved with either doing abortions, promoting sterilization, or working with groups that do abortions," he shares.
Tuns says Samaritan's Purse and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief are just two of the Christian-based relief organizations that merit pro-life support.
"Every year Planned Parenthood tries to imply that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would approve of what it does today because he received an award from the organization 44 years ago," said Dr. King. "Every year they lie. My Uncle stood for equal protection and non-violence -- two concepts that Planned Parenthood violates every day by being the nation's largest abortion business."
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, stated that Planned Parenthood is no stranger to falsehoods. "Videotape reveals that Planned Parenthood doesn't tell the truth to women and doesn't tell legal authorities about possible criminal activity," said Fr. Pavone. "Its implied claims about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are just more of Planned Parenthood's stock in trade -- deceit."
"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did not attend the event where his award was presented. We don't even know if he wrote the words of the acceptance speech that was read at the banquet," added Dr. King. "In 1966, abortion on demand was unthinkable. To imply that Uncle Martin's receipt of that award constitutes his endorsement of what Planned Parenthood engages in today -- the destruction of human lives -- is an outrage."
"This amazing conversion demonstrates the importance of a constant, peaceful prayer presence in front of abortion facilities," said David Bereit, national director of 40 Days for Life. "From that first campaign in 2004, we've prayed for Abby – and for all abortion workers – that they would come to see what abortion really is, and that they would leave the deadly business. In this case, those prayers have been answered. We are so proud of Abby's courage to leave the abortion industry and publicly announce her reasons for leaving."
Johnson said, "I left on good terms and simply had a change of heart on this issue. Over the past few months I had seen a change in motivation regarding the financial impact of abortions and really reached my breaking point after witnessing a particular kind of abortion on an ultrasound."
In the wake of her departure, Planned Parenthood has gone to court to seek a restraining order against both Johnson and the Coalition for Life, the local group that originated 40 Days for Life and continued regular prayer vigils in front of the clinic for the past five years. A court hearing on the order, which addresses disclosure of confidential information, is scheduled in a Texas court on November 10.
Shawn Carney, the director of the Coalition for Life and a 40 Days for Life board member, has been working with Johnson since she left her job last month. The former clinic director has even begun to pray outside the clinic where she formerly worked. "It's truly been a testament to the power of prayer and the courage of Abby to leave a job she felt she could no longer do in good conscience," Carney said. "It has been a joy for all of our volunteers who have prayed outside of the clinic for the conversion of the clinic workers to witness that conversion actually happen."
Johnson is one of eight abortion industry workers who left their jobs during the fifth coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign that concluded yesterday in 212 cities. She was the highest-ranking of the eight. Others who quit their clinic jobs included nurses, office staffers and security personnel.
In addition, a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Kalispell, Montana announced that it will close its doors on November 20, citing a decline in business as the reason for the closure. That clinic was the site of a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil this past spring.
