Barack Obama to Prince Charles: Americans like you more than me
The president told the prince that the Royal Family was more popular in America than US politicians during a meeting in the Oval Office
The Prince of Wales was forced to offer some consoling words to President Barack Obama last night after the US president observed that the American public prefers British royals to their own politicians.
“I think it’s fair to say that the American people are quite fond of the royal family,” said Mr Obama as the pair posed for the cameras in the Oval Office, before adding: “They like them much better than they like their own politicians.”

don’t believe that,” the Prince shot back, reassuringly, before telling
Mr Obama how much he had enjoyed returning to Mount Vernon, the
plantation home of America’s first president, George Washington, which
he first visited in 1970.
