By Ben Evans, Associated Press Writer

Barring a last-minute apology to Congress, Republican Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina faces what is likely to be a partisan vote scolding him for shouting "You lie!" at President Barack Obama.

Democratic aides said House leaders were preparing to introduce a resolution of disapproval Tuesday afternoon, with a vote likely later in the day.

Manassas, Va.—Today The Cardinal Newman Society published a new, second edition of The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, a unique resource for parents and students seeking a faithful Catholic education.

This comprehensive Guide recommends 21 colleges and universities in the United States plus eight international, online and unique programs based on the strength of their Catholic identity. The culmination of four years of research and hundreds of interviews, this edition of The Newman Guide builds substantially on the successful first edition which was published on All Saints Day in 2007. All told more than 8,000 copies of that edition were distributed to Catholic leaders and families.

Reilly, President of The Cardinal Newman Society and one of the editors of the second edition of the Guide.

“The mission of The Cardinal Newman Society is to help renew Catholic higher education, and we can think of no better way to do that than by offering this edition of The Newman Guide as a book but also as a free online resource. We are doing this so that as many Catholic families as possible are able to learn about the quality academics and faithful campus life available at the recommended colleges,” said Reilly.

Every college or program recommended in the Guide includes a complete profile that examines academics, governance, spiritual life, student activities, and residence life. New additions to this edition’s profiles are a letter to families from each college president as well as information on financial aid packages.

The online version of the college profiles include additional campus pictures and videos, open house and other event details, as well as a form to request admissions or financial aid information directly from the college.

Senate Votes to Cut Off ACORN Housing Funding

From Fox News

The Senate voted to cut off ACORN Housing funds following the release of three videotapes that show employees of the activist group advising a "pimp" and "prostitute" on how to break the law.

The amendment, offered by Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns, passed in a vote of 83 to 7 and prohibits the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now from receiving funds from the current Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. It marks the third time this year Republicans tried to block the organization from federal funding.

The latest vote comes on the heels of the release of hidden-camera videos showing workers in three separate ACORN housing offices apparently helping a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute evade the IRS and apply for an illegal housing loan for a brothel.

ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, according to USASpending.gov, a federal government Web site for tracking government grants.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Grants has given $8.2 million to ACORN in the years between 2003 and 2006, as well as $1.6 million to ACORN affiliates.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the offices shown in the videos had received any of ACORN's federal grant money for housing services.

Eastern Europe Not Feeling the Love for Obama

The One promised a new era in United States foreign relations in which unilateralism would be replaced by a "resetting," collegiality, and everyone would love America again. And while Obama has apologized for America to the far ends of the earth, prostrated himself at the feet of Muslim royalty, and is ready to submit to UN mandates, in only eight months our traditional allies and true friends in the world have been snubbed, offended, and alienated.

Never mind, Fidel and Hugo Chavez seem to like him, and Kenya is proud!

Czechs feel betrayed, Poles irked, Romanians slighted. Ask them who's to blame, and the answer may come as a surprise: President Barack Obama.

George W. Bush fawned over Eastern Europe, and its leaders rushed to join his post-9/11 "coalition of the willing." Now many—officials and ordinary citizens alike—are grumbling over what they perceive as the Obama administration's neglect.

It's a startling shift in a region long accustomed to cozy ties with the United States.

"Now we see the beginning of indifference," said Tudo Salajean, a Romanian historian and researcher.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Inducted Into Sodomite "Hall of Fame"

From LifeSiteNews
By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

Former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, who famously declared that the state had no business in the bedrooms of the nation and whose government subsequently decriminalized homosexuality in 1969, is one of the first five inductees of a soon-to-be-opened homosexual "Hall of Fame" in Vancouver.

Trudeau and four other homosexual activists will be recognized Sept. 19 at an event organized by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) under their Pride Network banner, "for their significant contributions to human rights and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Canadians."

In addition to his support for homosexuality, Trudeau was responsible for unleashing the anti-child abortion culture in Canada, which has made the country a world leader in the international de-population movement. The former prime minister also made substantial changes to the Criminal Code and divorce law, liberalizing Canadian regulations on the matters of contraception and divorce.

Trudeau, who the National Post's David Frum has characterized as "the most catastrophic prime minister in Canadian history," has also been heavily criticized by conservative commentators for having forced his Charter of Rights into the Canadian Constitution in 1982. The Charter has been repeatedly used by both government and special interest groups, most notably feminist and homosexual rights groups, to engineer court-imposed social changes, including homosexual "marriage."

Canada's abortion law was struck down in 1988 on Charter arguments, leaving the country with no law on abortion. Most criminal restrictions on pornography have also been struck down on Charter arguments. The Charter also gave teeth to the Canadian Human Rights Commission to impose its politically correct standards of behavior and thought on any Canadian who dares to challenge the liberal establishment Trudeau left as his legacy.

The scandal caused by the recent public Catholic funeral for Senator Ted Kennedy is reminiscent of Trudeau's funeral in 2000. Despite his having legalized abortion, divorce and homosexuality, Trudeau was given a state funeral in Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica, presided over by the archbishop of Montreal, Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte.

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), which is sponsoring the upcoming event where Trudeau will be inducted into the "Queer Hall of Fame," revealed itself as a prominent supporter of the homosexual agenda when in 2004 it joined forces with homosexual activists, and hosted its first "Gay Pride" reception to coincide with Toronto's "Gay Pride" parade.

At that event, CIBC chairman John Hunkin boasted "CIBC ... has a long history of supporting the Gay & Lesbian Community. In the mid-1990s, for example, CIBC made same-sex benefits available to its employees well before employers across Canada were legally obligated to do so."

"CIBC also had an opportunity to play a role, albeit a small one, in the legal battle for same-sex marriage," Hunkin continued. He described how employee Joe Varnell and former employee Kevin Bourassa became the first legally "married" homosexuals in the world. "As they embarked on their legal challenge to the common law definition of marriage, they received the support, encouragement and flexibility they needed from managers, colleagues and specialist groups at CIBC," he said.

Some Blacks Now Have Doubts About Obama

From OneNewsNow
By Star Parker

Star ParkerAmericans of all political persuasions agree that the nation has problems. Big problems.

And here's where we all part company. The political left, who now control our government, thinks we need more government -- a lot more. Those on the right see our problems as the result of excess government and want to move things in the opposite direction.

The fact that Democrats, with their man in the White House and control of both houses of Congress, are having difficulty getting their big government programs passed says something about the strength of the grassroots push back now taking place.

Stirring is even occurring among blacks.

According to the Pew Research Center, the president's approval rating nationwide is now 10 points lower than last April. Included in this is a three-point drop in his approval among blacks.

You might say, Star, a drop in approval ratings among blacks from 95 percent to 92 percent is trivial. But I say not so.

If we assume this reflects the 16 million blacks who voted for Obama last November, a three-point shift means there are about a half million blacks who now have buyer's remorse.

This is meaningful. You take real risks going against the establishment in black America. Psychological risks, professional risks, and sometimes risks to personal safety. Peeling off a black who voted for Obama means moving heaven and earth.

Even a star like Bill Cosby incurred the wrath of the black establishment when he started talking about black families and personal responsibility. As result, he backed off and toned down his message.

Recall during the campaign, candidate Obama ruffled Jesse Jackson's feathers when he spoke about personal responsibility among black males. An inadvertently "on" microphone picked up Jackson saying that he wanted to castrate Obama (not exactly in that language).

The black conservative is not that rare freak of nature that so many think.

According to a Pew Research Center report, almost a third of blacks consider themselves conservative.

However, these folks have always been inclined to be quiet because of the social pressures and intimidation.

But this is changing.

Despite slurs, intimidation, and widely reported physical attacks from union thugs, a few brave black souls have showed up at tea party protest rallies.

I'm getting more and more calls from black conservatives around the country running for local office. I see black conservative websites popping up, and there's even black rappers rapping a conservative message.

Who, after all, could know more about the lie about government and the pretense of political answers to life's problems than blacks?

It's black families that have been devastated by welfare state programs and black kids now trapped in hopeless public schools. And it's overwhelmingly black unborn children who never see the light of day.

How can blacks who have their eyes open not have noticed that it was Obama who killed the D.C. school voucher program and sent black children back to one of the worst public school systems in the country?

The Cato Institute reports that, after adjusting for inflation, funds spent on public schools have doubled since 1970, with no improvement in education performance and a decrease in graduation rates. This is government at work.

The Israelites wandered for 40 years after they left Egypt, giving time for the slave generation to disappear and for a new generation to bear the responsibilities of freedom.

Next year marks 40 years since the decade of the '60s, which gave us the civil rights movement.

I see a new generation of freedom-loving, church-going black Americans coming on the scene. Many voted for Obama out of racial pride. But their values and aspirations for freedom are causing a change of heart.
